Our 1 in a MIL spotlight recognizes Zack Grider

Millennium’s Influential Leaders (1 in a MIL) inspire people to be their best versions while helping drive the business forward. Their goals include people and results; they create circles of influence and lead by inspiring people around them to improve. They contribute to the overall success of Millennium by the way they carry themselves, support the organization, and overall contribute to our culture. They are caring and curious. They are dependable and passionate. They are one in a Millennium.

Millennium Way: Passionate, Curious, Caring, & Dependable.

For Q1, we wanted to focus on our core value of being Passionate. One employee who represents passion every day is Zack Grider. Zack is the sales rep for Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. With close to 4 years under his belt at Millennium, he spreads positive influence, going above and beyond in his work, helping field everyone in the region to achieve more and be better versions of themselves.

Let's hear what his Managers, Jonathan Blauer and Justin Gustafson, has to say:

Passion and Zack Grider go hand in hand. I look at someone who has a passion for being positive, is focused on growing personally and professionally, goes above and beyond, and takes pride in being a high-level performer. All of these attributes describe Zack. I believe you can tell quickly how someone carries themself and speaks if they are truly passionate. When you witness how Zack interacts with clients, vendors, and coworkers, his passion shines through. I would really like to see a poll from his clients where they would pick three words to describe Zack, and I believe passion would come up from many of his clients. Zack’s passion is authentic. What you see is what you get; it comes naturally to him. Being passionate is critical for success, which is one reason Zack has grown his territory so quickly. His passion also rubs off on other people, and his passion is motivating when you’re around him.

We asked Zack several questions to learn more about his experience working for Millennium and what his passions are outside of work.

What brought you to Millennium?

The opportunity to do something different. I spent years in operations in the restaurant industry, which is an absolute grind. I had my first daughter and realized that working nights and weekends, I was not going to be able to be the father I always wanted to be, so I looked to make a change and ended up in sales in the tech sector, and then COVID-19 happened. The company I was at furloughed 2,000 of us, and a recruiter reached out; the rest is history.

Tell us about an accomplishment that you’re proud of.

Professionally, being nominated and awarded “One in a Millennium” by peers and executives.

Personally, being a father to my two beautiful daughters.

What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?

This one’s a little hard because, to me my goals are always evolving. I will never truly reach my goal because it’s always changing. I just want to continue on the trajectory I am on professionally and continue to be a good husband and a good father.

I guess a goal is to break 80 on a golf course (lofty goal) and remodel/finish my basement.

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?

When I am not working, I love spending time with my wife and two daughters. I really enjoy golfing, being outside, snowboarding, cooking, and watching sports; I’m a pretty normal guy at the end of the day.

What is a cause that you care about?

Mental health. Growing up, like a lot of people my age, mental health was not a topic that was considered real or even something to look at. As I have gotten older and seen some friends battle and lose their own battles to it, I think it needs to be more normalized to discuss early and often. At the end of the day I try to be a reason that people smile and leave situations feeling positive. I’m a huge advocate that everyone has a battle that no one knows about, so I just try to be the good in people’s lives.

A message from Zack:

Working at Millennium has been one of the best decisions I have made in my professional career and personal life. It feels like home. Something about the people and the culture just feels different here. I have been here for 4 years now, and not a single day has felt like work. I truly enjoy everyone we work with, from internal co-workers to our partners in manufacturing to the clients we talk to day in and day out. I am very blessed to be a part of this and look forward to the coming years!

Congratulations Zack!

Thank you for making Millennium a great place to work. We are happy to have you as a part of our team!
