His colleagues highlight his intentional and supportive approach throughout the hiring process, ensuring both hiring managers and candidates are set up for success. Jay’s genuine interest in Millennium and its people shines through in every interaction. He actively listens to understand needs, builds strong relationships, and brings a contagious energy and enthusiasm that lifts the entire team. For his unwavering dedication to caring for others and his significant positive impact on our culture, Jay Brooks is truly “1 in a MIL.”
Let’s Hear What His Manager, Mary Burback, VP of Employee Success & Development, Has to Say:
Jay truly embodies our Core Value of Caring.
He builds strong, genuine relationships with candidates, peers, hiring managers, and interview teams. You can see how much he cares in how he shows up every day. He’s thoughtful, dedicated, and leads with heart. He listens to understand, and people trust him because he’s real.
Jay is all about continuous improvement, and you will see this shine through in his consultative approach; he partners closely with hiring managers to find the right talent and helps shape a great candidate experience from start to finish. New hires consistently share how positive and welcoming their experience was with him.
He proudly represents Millennium in the market, and his energy and enthusiasm are contagious. He’s always learning, growing, and thinking about how we can be better—for the candidates, for the teams, and for the business.
Jay is someone who leads with care, not just because it’s a core value, but because it’s who he is.
What brought you to Millennium?
I was drawn to Millennium’s mission of expanding internet access by supporting high-speed fiber network builds. I spent the first 10 years of my life in a rural area (Goodman, Mississippi). I know that having access to good-quality internet can be a game-changer for rural communities to excel in areas such as education and healthcare.
Tell us about an accomplishment that you’re proud of:
As a Corporate Recruiter, I’m humbled to introduce candidates to the great team we have here at Millennium. Connecting people with their passion and seeing the impact that they have here at Millennium is exciting!
What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?
Professionally, my goal is to build our bench in the talent community to support the growth of our organization. Personally, my goal is to continue my health journey by consistently working out and eating better. Health is Wealth!
What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?
Family is everything to me. I’m definitely the happiest spending time with my wife, Cayla, and kids when I’m not working. We love to be outside as much as we can when the weather is nice. So whether it’s bike riding or spending the day at the park, being active with my family brings me great joy!
What is a cause that you care about?
I proudly serve as an Admin/Assistant Coach for the B-City Blues, a traveling flag football program that includes all three of my sons. We compete locally in Beloit, WI, and travel to tournaments across the Midwest. This program teaches football fundamentals, preparing them for tackle football in the 5th grade. More importantly, it’s a powerful avenue for instilling life skills such as hard work, teamwork, and communication. These are skills that transcend the field, and I find great fulfillment in mentoring these young athletes, helping them build a strong foundation for life. Our youth are our future!
A Message From Jay:
Find your “why” and a vision that you connect with. Continue to practice your craft within your role to achieve that vision, and it will drive the outcome you are looking for. There’s power in positive thinking, and your mindset sets the tone for today! There’s nobody better at being YOU than YOU! Maximize that!
Congratulations, Jay!
Your hard work and caring spirit make Millennium a truly great place to work. Thank you — You’re “One in a MIL,” Jay!
