RHI’S STORY

THE PROOF IS IN THE PEOPLE – RHI’S STORY.

Clients make a business essential, but it’s the people who make it successful. At Millennium, we recognize the talent amongst our team members and make sure their role within the company fit their strengths. We are proud when we can see the advancement of our employees into new roles and taking on more responsibility. It’s a reflection of their hard work as well as the coaching and mentoring they have received from their managers and coworkers.

We would like to share one of these stories. Meet Rhiannon “Rhi” Terpstra. She started as an intern in our marketing department and now has moved up into her most recent role as Business Operations Manager where she oversees processes, training, and our warehouse management system for all of Millennium’s warehouses (currently 17 and growing!).

When Rhi’s internship was over, she thought that would be the end of her time at Millennium. While she was taking product photos for the website, she was able to get to know her coworkers in the Delavan office, learned how to navigate our computer system and where the products were. She made a big enough impression that when the Delavan warehouse needed to bring in an extra person, Rich McWherter, Delavan Warehouse Associate,  reached out to Rhi to join the team. Through the time and guidance of many people, she learned the many angles of warehousing and how it affects the overall big picture of the company. As the operations team at Millennium began to grow, there was a need for someone to take on the role of “Super User” for the new RF-Smart system, and processes needed to be written to help train the warehouse employees. Rhi took on that extra responsibility and over time it grew into the position she has now.

We sat down with Rhi to ask her a few questions and we were able to find out more about her experiences working at Millennium.

Was there anyone at Millennium that helped you grow personally or professionally?

So many people, starting with Jessica Mauk, Digital Marketing Specialist, for hiring me for marketing, Rich McWherter, Delavan Warehouse Associate, for thinking of and training me for warehouse, Dave West, Central Strategic Account Manager,  and Becky Haynes, VP of Sales and Operations for hiring me, Jack Winger, Delavan Warehouse Driver, for teaching me how to drive a trailer so I could get my CDL, Nate Wendt, President, for guidance and throwing me into situations, Denay Boilek, Central Strategic Inside Sales, for taking the time to show me how to do things in Netsuite, Ryan Cepela, VP of Finance, for the opportunities of MDS and operations, Todd Wrobbel, Director of Operations, who has been my manager in two different positions helping and guiding me towards the companies goals.

Reels of conduit can roll off a truck, and handholes can break.

Never really disliked any of my jobs, there was always a step in life that changed them.

What was the best job you ever had?

Where I currently am.

What would you like to accomplish in the next year?

Inventory Status, automatic item fulfillment numbering, bins that can be labeled the same in different virtual warehouses so there is no need to change the prefix, cash sales options all turned on and opening a couple of new locations.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

When the everyday LTL truck drivers stopped instructing me on how to load or unload something, they just knew I had it handled.

What’s some great advice you have been given by either a current or previous boss?

Stick to it.

What is a skill you would like to learn?

Sign language and welding.
