Underground enclosures are all GlasMasters does, and we build them four ways: polymer concrete, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, corrugated fiberglass vaults, and HDPE. Make it the easy line item.

On a federally funded build, the underground enclosure is a uniquely awkward line item. It's a manufactured product with real domestic-content exposure, it goes in by the hundreds, and it's physically permanent. Which is exactly why it's the item a compliance reviewer opens the binder to.

GlasMasters' answer is direct: they state that their underground enclosures comply with BABA requirements, that materials are sourced and manufactured in accordance with BABA guidelines and produced domestically, and they publish a dated BABA certificate you can put in the file.

The second thing they get right is weight. Traditional precast concrete is strong and it is heavy, and heavy is what turns a two-man crew into a three-man crew with a machine.

AP Series polymer concrete is described as stronger and lighter than traditional precast, and it won't absorb water.﻿
AF and AV Series fiberglass reinforced plastic pair a fully fiberglass body with a polymer concrete lid assembly. GlasMasters states these are three times stronger than traditional concrete and much lighter, and the AF bodies nest for freight efficiency.﻿
AH Series HDPE is pedestrian-rated, designed for urban areas, and nestable to reduce transportation cost.﻿

Third: covers you can brand. Every GlasMasters enclosure is available with molded cover logos — twenty-nine of them, including Fiber, Fiber Optics, Communications, Telecom, CATV, Electric and Water — plus a blank smooth option and a cavity option for a custom logo plate. On a municipal or co-op build where the customer wants their own name on the lid, that's not a detail, it's a requirement.

AP Series — Polymer Concrete Enclosures

A mixture of thermoset resin, aggregates and fiberglass reinforcement. Twenty-three models spanning AP060806 (6"x8"x6") through AP487248 (48"x72"x48"), covering everything from a small splice point to a full distribution vault. Stronger and lighter than traditional precast, and won't absorb water.
